We are a grassroots movement. We come from all walks of life; each of us contributes spiritual support, financial assistance, or political activism, according to our individual strengths, and the needs of the movement.
Our national office acts as a link between our provincial groups and strengthens the pro-life effort by coordinating united strategies.
We stand in support of all pro-life initiatives designed to change public opinion in favour of life. We educate on political issues of pro-life concern by means of our monthly newsletter and our website; pamphlets, books, videos, press releases, on the street activism, letters-to-the-editor, media interviews, and conferences and speaking engagements.
- We support crisis pregnancy centres which provide help to pregnant women.
- We support pro-life actions such as Life Chain, pickets and demonstrations.
- We specialize in political activity. We help identify, form, and support pro-life political leaders in all parties.
- We work with pro-lifers in all parties to achieve pro-life party platforms. (We strongly support those parties which already have pro-life platforms; but we do not support one party exclusively. This position is based on consensus within the pro-life movement.)
- We meet regularly with all politicians, at their legislative and constituency offices. We support those who are pro-life, and try to educate and persuade those who are not.
- We initiate and/or support the introduction of pro-life legislative measures, and take part in debate on specific pieces of proposed legislation.
- We monitor how the right to life is treated in the courts. We also intervene in specific cases involving the right to life.
- We help represent the Canadian pro-life movement at international conferences involving life issues. We do this in order to monitor and influence Canada's handling of such issues on the international level.
- We network and co-operate with pro-life organizations representing the educational and charitable wings of the movement, and seek to maintain and promote unity in the pro-life movement as a whole (The pro-life battle must be fought on several fronts). We also seek to network and co-operate with like-minded organizations dealing with issues related to our primary concerns. ...and during elections
- We encourage competent pro-lifers to run for office at all levels of government.
- We question election candidates, and research their public records, to ascertain their positions on the life issues. We publish the results of this research, and seek to mobilize the pro-life vote.
- We encourage active support for pro-life candidates via leafleting, canvassing, phoning, donations and joining campaign teams
Our public affairs office is in Ottawa.
Our Political Activity
- We produce and distribute pamphlets, books, videos, monthly newsletters and newspapers from our National office, and archive most of our material on the internet at www.lifesite.net.
- We lobby for life and family at the United Nations international conferences, and inform Canadian politicians and the general public about developments at these conferences via our National office and information is fed back to the grassroots in each province and our public affairs office in Ottawa.
- We work with young people through Campaign Life Coalition Youth, educating them, informing them.
